Eatin' Our Way Across Texas

Just got back from visiting my sister, Chris, in Texas.  I needed to get the heck out of Seattle and head down to sunshine and warmth!  My girlfriend, Gina, went with me and we had the best time.  Lots of good food, laughing, fun events, food, historic locations, and food... did I mention food?  We truly did eat our way across the state!  So fun!

Texas Longhorn

Tropical Sno was our first stop off the plane.  I always have to at least one everytime I visit!  My nieces Jillian, Madison, and Sadie came along for the ride as well.
Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Corn at Babe's Chicken in the middle of nowhere!  Portions weren't nearly big enough!
Everything's better fried, right?!  I have to admit, we were tempted to stop for some of these Fried Pies, but we stayed focus... we were headed for the nearest Cracker Barrel!
Chris, Gina, and I made the 5 hr. trek from Dallas to San Antonio to see Rock of Ages.  Beautiful, historic theatre and a great show with awesome 80's music!
This was the other reason that we wanted to head to San Antonio:  The Riverwalk.
Chris and Gina posing alongside the Riverwalk.
The Riverwalk seemed like it went on for at least a mile.  Each side was loaded with tons of restaurants and a few shops.
Last stop before heading back to Dallas was the Alamo.  Loved it!

New Arrival

Let me set up the scenario:  It's Saturday afternoon and I'm home hosting a scrapbooking weekend with four girlfriends.  My husband and kids have been sent to a hotel for the weekend.  The phone rings and it's my husband.  There are dogs barking in the background.  He mentions an adopt-a-dog event.... He doesn't need to say much more than that.  I calmly tell him to exit the pet store as quickly as he can.  The next thing I know is that my daughter, Hayley, is put on the line.  Can't remember exactly the content of what she said, but I vaguely remember a whine-y tone.  Shortly after I hang up I get half a dozen photos of assorted dogs e-mailed to me.  I think you all know what's coming.... Please let me introduce you to Poppy's brother, Teddy:

So far, so good, but I'll keep you posted...

iHappy

I was awakened on Mother's Day morning with not breakfast in bed, but a Bloody Mary... not a bad way to wake up.  Also received a technological surprise!  Not quite sure what to do with it yet, but at least everyone in the family is very excited to show me all of the wonderful possibilities!

my new iPad that I received on Mother's Day.  Opened it at 9 a.m. and I think the first time that I was able to touch it was at around 6 p.m.  The fam was pretty darned excited about this gift o' mine...

Happy Mother's Day!
