From Start to Finish

Yippeeee!  We finally got our garden in!  Wes built all of the garden boxes himself and I love them!
Two down... two to go.
It rained HARD all day long, but we decided to just punch this prep work out all at once and get it over with.  I think I made three trips to Iddings to get truckloads of soil and bark.  It didn't matter that I didn't make it to the gym on this day because I got such a work out from all of the shoveling!  I was so happy (and soaked through) when we finished!
A few days later on a semi-dry day Luke and I got busy planting.  It's so cute because he's really into it!  He was very excited to plant his own box.  He worked with me the whole way through.
It will be interesting to see how much of each veggie actually comes up... if the seed packet called for 6 seeds, we threw in 10 for good measure.  :)
Wish us luck!

Cooking with Hayley

I've realized lately that I do waaaaay to much for my kids, so Hayley and I have decided that it's time for her to know how to cook (laundry will come later).  Okay, okay, it was really my idea, but she's 12 1/2 now... it's time, right?  This is her second time in two weeks that she's made dinner with very little assistance from me.  Last week she made Chicken Parmesan and this week she wanted to try Lasagne.  I'm very proud of her.  She's really had a great attitude about the whole process!
Her finished product!  She did a great job and it was enjoyed by everyone!

Scrappin' With My Girlfriends

It may not have been my most productive weekend of scrapbooking, but it was definitely the most relaxing!  Since I've been trying to watch the outgoing dollars lately, I decided to host a pseudo retreat at my house instead of spending a few hundred + on the typical retreats that I usually go on.  I had so much fun with my girlfriends.  We stayed up late, we slept in late, we ate well (and not so well), we sat outside at times and just enjoyed the warmth of the sun, we gabbed and giggled and watched a few chick flicks.  We even broke out the Margaritaville Machine!
Miss Gina looking too cute while perusing through some magazines trying to get some layout ideas...
Dar looks pretty and quite focused.  She needed that focus to be able to whip out 28 totally cute layouts!  Way to get creative and use up a lot of your older product!  WooHoo!
Erica's looking pretty pleased after her maiden trip to the Scrapbook Nook in Kent.  She fell in love with the store!  Hey Erica, I just discovered my little gift that you left for me on my desk!  I'm so excited!  Thank you soooooooooooo much... can't wait to use my GC at the Nook in the very near future!
Forcing Gigi to pose with me before she Cricuts her heart out.
I was a little disappointed at first that I didn't get a lot of my traditional scrapbook layouts completed, but I am very pleased that I got completely caught up with my Project 365 book... I'm talking journaling and embelleshing and everything!  So happy!

Thank you so much to my wonderful girlfriends for a delightful weekend!  Hope there are many more to come in the future!

Meet Poppy!

Well, I had a fabulous Mother's Day!  Breakfast served to me, a back rub and foot massage from Luke, wonderful homemade cards from the kids, a couple of hanging geranium pots, Wes finishing the second of three garden boxes, a Thai food lunch, and............. a surprise visit to the pet store!  Did I emphasize the word 'surprise' strongly enough?!  Well, I wasn't exactly ready for a new puppy yet, but apparently everyone else in the family was, so that made it impossible to leave the store without this little girl.  She had such crazy energy that she was a perfect fit for us!  She reminded us of a little poppy seed!

On the drive home with our new purchase Luke's eyes were welling up and tears were spilling out.  When I asked him what was wrong and if he was okay he said, "They're just tears of joy mom".  That has almost made the sleepless nights and inside potty accidents worth it!
Both kids have PROMISED to be very, very involved with the care of this little Poppy Seed....
I'll keep you posted!
